There’s this theme (not meme, theme) in a lot of what I reading lately online. What we’re all reading, probably. NPR and the Times both refer to the email glut, the information flood.
For me right now, it feels like a blind — too much email’s just the symptom — I’m drowning in ignorance.
I get emails that are so CYA it’s like everyone’s wearing 3 pairs of pants.
I get emails asking me questions that you can answer using, oh… Google?
I get emails confirming if I’ll be in a meeting they just sent an email about… Seriously.
I had someone once tell me that their ‘worst case’ candidate would not answer an email within an hour.
Um… if you have a time frame around something, wouldn’t the phone make more sense?
Email is too cheap. I think I’m going to have to really change my habits.
