Hello.
I’m David Moore.
For my day job, I’m the Director of Technology (often also called the Director of Development, and my card says “Director, Creative Development”) at Atmosphere BBDO. I’ve held similar positions at a few other agencies, and done all kinds of other things. Find out more here. I seem to have migrated back to advertising, possibly because it’s an industry that’s trying to figure things out, and that’s what I do. The challenge of generating or understanding an idea (as in: a campaign idea, a reason to believe, you know, a BRIEF) and an execution that fits it, that’s pretty fun stuff.
I’m a tinkerer, a hacker, and basically fascinated with how things work: software, hardware, social systems, you name it. I like playing with ideas and things, and how the two classes (are they?) relate. I was a Philosophy major in college. Even messed around towards a graduate degree later. Still love it.
I have two children, and playing with them takes up a lot of my time as well. Being on the scene when an abstraction is formed out of the immediate is pretty much a daily event right now. I’m gearing up for teaching my 6 year old to solder (lead free solder, yes) and hoping to build some cool stuff…
